Obviously, from the title of this post, I did have a second homebirth.

Now, here's the rest of the story...

I found out I was pregnant early on. I can't even remember how I told my hubs or how we told our family members this time. With the first, we did it up big in front of everyone with Grandpa/Grandma certificates and "Prego it's in there" signs. With the second, we had #1 (who wasn't even 1) wear a "big brother" t-shirt when everyone came over. With #3, we put a post-it that said, "#3 will be arriving in late October" in the back of a book of pictures the grandparents were looking at. #4...hm. I'll have to ask someone! (Just asked Mom and she said we told them over the phone.)

I liked my last midwife a lot. I met a girl shortly after I became pregnant who was talking to me about her midwife and she sounded like someone I wanted to look into using. We made an appointment to meet her. She was a CPM and didn't have an office. She would only do home visits which worked out perfectly so I wouldn't have to find someone to watch the other 3 while I went in for appointments. She was very sweet and a Christian! Worked for me!

This pregnancy followed along with my other boy pregnancies--easy for
me, no headaches, no morning sickness. We also had a sonogram at a
local pregnancy center and the nurse guessed we were having a boy.
Since I was keeping up with three little ones, I was tired and had back
pains pretty regularly but nothing I couldn't handle.

On July 6 (Saturday), I started having some harder contractions while we were having dinner at CiCi's. I started timing them at that point. They were randomly spaced around 7-10 minutes. I let my midwife and parents know about it. My parents said to let them know if they kept going, "even at 4am." They were going to plan to come in the next day if the contractions kept up. They kept going throughout the evening and were even keeping me up at night. Around 4:00, I got up to go to the bathroom. Since they had said to let them know, even around that time, I decided to text...and woke them up. So they headed this way around 6. Shortly after that, my contractions basically went to nothing. I was still having some but they weren't regular and they weren't very strong. I was starting to wonder if this would be the day or not.

Sunday came and went with really no change. Easy, random contractions. My midwife was coming for an appointment on Monday so she decided not to come before then unless I needed her. I had another night where I was awake some with contractions and didn't sleep really well.

When my midwife arrived on Monday at 11 for my appointment, she had everything she would need for a birth ready to go. I was having some hard contractions that I couldn't really talk through but they were spaced out. She said that we would probably meet the baby that day and I was kind of surprised. We then camped out in the living room while I tried to rest some and tried a few positions to get comfortable. The contractions were still about 10 minutes apart. She suggested a couple of ideas to get contractions going and get my body ready.

We got the tub ready a few hours after lunch and I got in. It sure felt nice but I still felt like maybe this was all mental since my contractions weren't as strong as I remembered the last birth's being and they were still about every 10 minutes. I was so tired, I just wanted it over!

I tried a few things to get the contractions going and get myself comfortable when I would have contractions. I was talking, laughing and joking around most of the time. It was pretty easy leading up to this point.
Then it happened. Crazy hard contractions, negative thoughts in my head, and total fear. I was done. I thought I wasn't progressing and I was going to have to be transferred to the hospital. I thought I wasn't going to be able to push, so I decided to just start trying to push. Skipping a few details, I pushed on and off for 30 minutes or so praying that this would end. I was in PAIN and I was TIRED! He was either coming out then or he wasn't coming out. I pushed and yelled and let them know I was hurting!

Finally on July 8 at 5:17pm, I pushed this little vernix-covered baby into the world with a "Thank you, Lord!". He was perfectly healthy and quickly learned to eat and sleep like a champ. Daddy even did a great job of helping me even though he felt really sick that day and the next! When Daddy got to tell everyone his name, they thought we were joking.

Welcome to the world,

Enoch Adoniram

8 lbs.

21 inches

He is now 8 weeks old and I'm so glad that today isn't 8 weeks ago! I'm so glad he is here and has found his place in our family of 6. Life has been good and great fun adjusting to 4 kids 4 and under! My cousin's baby was also born on the same day, just a few hours earlier, so we thought that was really cool.

Enoch--Enoch walked with God and then he was no more. God took him, he did not die. Our pastor did a sermon about Enoch a few weeks before he arrived, before we had agreed on this name. I was totally against it even though it had been on my husband's list for a while at that point. I did a little more practicing saying it, writing it out and researching it before agreeing to use it.

Adoniram--Adoniram Judson was the first Baptist missionary. He went to Burma. We have a book that talks about different missionaries, church leaders, martyrs, etc. throughout history. It has a different person each day and I read about Adoniram a few months before the birth. I liked this name as a first name for a long time but agreed to it as a middle name. I was 10 weeks pregnant at this time and about to go see my doctor for my first prenatal visit. Some things in the video that grabbed me were women telling their stories. There were live births that were shown in homes, in water tubs, in hospitals. I understood the hospital births, but I had never pictured myself giving birth at home. I have one friend who has given birth at home…three times. I have always thought she was crazy and said I would NEVER do that!

Halfway through the movie, I stopped it, got on the computer and e-mailed my home birth friend asking her a lot of questions. Then I started looking up midwives in the area and e-mailing them. What was I doing? I hadn’t even talked to my husband about this! I just knew, based on statistics and stories in the video that I did not want to deliver this third baby in the hospital with my OB. The OB I found while searching for a Pro-Life OB/GYN in our area. The OB who had delivered our 2 previous boys. The OB I told I missed seeing when in for an appointment before I found out I was pregnant with Baby 3. The hospital I had just driven by with my mom and said, “I love that hospital.” The hospital that claims to be “Baby Friendly.”

With my first baby, I had wanted to go natural, to birth in a tub, but the tub was “taken” when we arrived at the hospital in full labor one week before my due date. I labored for hours being monitored, walking around the halls with strangers staring at me, lying in the bed, being poked and prodded. Since I wasn’t “progressing fast enough” I was told I would have Pitocin and I knew I didn’t want that without an epidural. A few hours later, a few pushes later, he arrived!

With my second baby, I was done, so my doctor scheduled an induction with Cervidel one day after my due date. I labored all night long while my husband slept on the fold out couch next to me. In the morning, they offered me the epidural as the anesthesiologist was making his rounds and passing them out. Without a second thought, I took one. A few hours later, a few pushes later (after being told I had almost gotten an emergency C-section because his heart rate was dropping too low), he arrived!

You see, I’ve always wanted to experience giving birth and I know the epidural, the hospital, the OB have kept me from doing that. I wanted things to be different this time and I had learned a few things through my research. I know that the pain of labor goes away as soon as the baby is born. The pain is not an injury pain, it is accomplishing something…moving the baby down and delivering the baby! There are pauses in between the contractions which allow for some rest, so it is not hours of constant pain. Millions of women before me have given birth naturally and safely. One in THREE births in hospitals result in a C-section.

I set out to educate myself more and picked up a copy of Ricki Lake’s Your Best Birth. It was obviously slanted in a midwife/home birth way, but I loved all of the information. It made sense. I knew this was for me and my husband agreed. Besides my friend, I had no one else who had given birth at home, although my father-in-law was born at home many years ago!

I talked to my parents about this and assured them that I was looking into this with an open mind and was NOT planning a home birth, but instead a birthing center birth. I made two appointments with midwives and asked lots of questions on local forums. Come to find out, there are lots of people out there who have given birth at home or a birthing center!

I met the first midwife and liked her (a former LDR nurse). She had a birthing center in her office and also would do a home birth. She worked alone and I would have all of my appointments with her. The second was a group of three midwives. They would use the birthing center or I could be one of the two that they would allow each month to birth at home if I signed up early enough for their services. Then it would be the luck of the draw of who I would end up with at the birth. They have a beautiful birthing center, but there was nothing there that we didn’t have at home—including a claw foot tub! I told my husband that felt like going to a hotel to give birth…and they kick you and the new baby out within 3-5 hours after giving birth as long as everything is okay.

At this point, we decided that a home birth would best suite us and we chose the first midwife. My parents are, at this point, thinking that I’m going nuts! I am reading books, forums, blogs and anything else I can get my hands on about birthing at home. My favorites so far have been Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth and Your Best Birth. I have bought quite a few others to read too.

So basically, I have a few main reasons that I want to deliver this baby at home. I want to experience labor and delivery without drugs (who knows if the rise in ADHD in children is also due to a rise in epidurals, Pitocin, etc.). I want to be comfortable to labor and deliver as I want, wearing what I want, being in whatever location I want surrounded only by those who love and support me, not strangers. I want to trust my body, God, my midwife and my husband to help me get through this process safely. If something happens and I need to be transported to the hospital (or my baby does), I know this can be done safely and quickly. I am much less likely to have a C-section.

When I first started thinking about this, it made me sick to my stomach every time. Now, I look forward to it with eager anticipation. We are not finding out the gender of our baby (once again) and are excited to see what God decides to add to our family. I can’t wait to welcome this baby into our arms, family and home! This is our current plan, but we always remember what Proverbs 19:21 says, “Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails.”Kamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08922230473802399178noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881726697848288028.post-57165083116645740472012-07-28T15:58:00.001-05:002012-08-09T14:54:06.112-05:00Little Busy Bag Swap<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow";">You will make X number of
identical bags (such as: 12 color wheel bags) for everyone in your swap. There
is no need to spend more than $1 a bag.
Some will cost more (closer to $1 a bag) to make and some will cost less
(pennies or free). The same is true for
how long it will take to make them. The bags will be designed for children aged 1-5.

<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow";">Choose an idea from the list provided
or come up with your own idea. You can

<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow";">Put your activity into a

that it should be easy to pull out and use, so include anything you can to make
the activity complete including instructions and a label written on the front.
No need to laminate paper pieces. Each of us can laminate when we receive our
bags, if we wish to do so.

<span style="font-family: "Arial Narrow";">Put together the

could cost more than $1. It still needs
to be functional, but make sure it’s as low-cost as possible! I can tell you
from experience that if you do not price out your materials (and shop around
with coupons if necessary) it WILL cost you more than you expect.
I used the mirror shapes from the church and let the boys color on one. Then they got to put glue on the back to hold the foil in. I wrote the verse on the foil and we said the verse. I came up with a few motions to try to help them remember the verse and plan to go over and over it. I want them to know that they were wonderfully made by the Creator of the universe!
Kamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08922230473802399178noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881726697848288028.post-53986823515569087842012-04-04T14:23:00.001-05:002012-04-04T14:23:37.457-05:00Hear O Israel

My husband and I went to Israel last year. Check out the page I wrote about our adventures here. It was a great time and I'm so glad that we got to go. I just love to learn more about Israel, Jewish culture and the Jewish religions. They are God's chosen people!

This verse has been a little more difficult to learn because of the repetition. We have worked on it for a few weeks (although we haven't consistently been working on it). He now likes to mix up some of the other verses in this one (he does it with other verses too--As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord Jesus Christ and I will be saved).
I was trying to think of a good activity to do with this one and thought about a number 1 then maybe an ear. I finally sat down and looked up a picture of the land of Israel that I was going to print off and write the verse on. Then I saw the flag and thought that would be easy. We just glued blue construction paper on a white paper, but I could see you painting it if that's your thing too. I did most of the work on this one.Kamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08922230473802399178noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881726697848288028.post-1630850042342873622012-04-04T14:14:00.001-05:002012-04-04T14:14:55.254-05:00God is Love

God is love. 1 John 4:8

I decided to go with something super easy but fundemantal for our "g" letter. God is love. His love is neverending and he loves us all so much that he sent his son to die for our sins. He is love. Period. This was obviously very easy to memorize. He also has a "God" verse for Awana (although he memorized the verse and then refused to return to the class--God loved us and sent his son (and Jesus loves me)).

To make the heart (around Valentine's is when we did this activity), I let him paint on a piece of cardstock. He just loves to pain. Then I cut it out in a heart shape and wrote the verse in the middle. It was a little wet or got water on it.

May you experience this verse today in a new and profound way!
Kamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08922230473802399178noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881726697848288028.post-42241974992281534022012-04-04T14:09:00.001-05:002012-04-04T14:09:49.208-05:00For Nothing

When trying to think of an activity or visual for this verse, all I could think of was a "no" sign, so I went with it. I tried to explain to the boys that God can do anything and what exactly this verse means. Although they probably don't grasp what it means exactly, it's definitely in their mind and they will remember it in the future. It's short and easy to remember. At first it was hard to say "impossible," but they've picked it up now!

D told me that he didn't like this verse from day one! That made me laugh because he didn't really even understand what it meant.

I couldn't think of any craft to do with this one really either. I had D look through a magazine for pictures of children. By the way, Women's Fitness has no pictures of children! So the boys colored a C and glued a picture on it.

The motions were rocking a baby for "children," pointing to your ear for "obey," sign language open hand with thumb on forehead for "parents," pointing up for "in the Lord," and holding up your right hand for "this is right." Doing the motions does seem to help him remember them some.
This has definitely been the most difficult verse so far. I think the wording of it is hard for a little one to grasp and I can't come up with motions to help. However, this has been the easiest to do a lesson for. Just search for "golden rule" and you've got a thousand lessons!

I came up with the idea to make a little paper doll chain and write the verses on it. It probably means nothing to D, but I think it's cute. The other lesson we did (which he probably didn't understand) was coming up with "nice" things to do for people and writing them on petals. Then we made a little kindness flower with the verse on it.

We still haven't mastered this verse and we work on it pretty much every day. The other verses sound great though!!
Kamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08922230473802399178noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881726697848288028.post-61999029269685018932012-02-17T21:29:00.000-06:002012-02-17T21:29:41.824-06:00Every Good

We learned this verse on Valentine's Day, so we were able to talk about gifts a little bit more than a normal day. I got out a birthday bag and put some gifts in it that God has given us--a picture of the family, a truck like Dad's, the Bible and a dollar. We talked about these gifts and how God has given these and many more to us. They are perfect and they came from him.

I cut out a little "gift" and wrote the verse on it for our craft. I also introduced D to the song we sing at church that goes with this verse--"Father of Lights."

I wasn't feeling very creative and couldn't figure out what little craft to do for this one, so we made a cross. I then realized we had LifeSavers in our candy pile! This seriously saved the lesson and helped D remember the verse. Plus now he begs for a candy every time he says the verse. There was one glued at the bottom for one night. He ate it off first thing the next morning before I got out of bed! He always needs a little help with the word "believe" but can do the rest, however he says, "and I will be saved!"
The motions which he doesn't usually do are pointing to his forehead for "believe," pointing up for "the Lord," doing sign language for Jesus Christ which is pointing to both palms, and pointing out for "you."
I am taking this command seriously this year and planning to teach my children Bible verses. I have gone through a few websites and created an alphabetical list of 80 verses that I plan for all of us to learn this year. I hope to accomplish this task by doing the following things for each verse:

Look verse up and highlight in the Bible

Write verse on a card with a picture representation

Craft to go along with each verse

Song, video or rhyme that goes with the verse if there is one

I am going to try to come up with the ideas off the top of my head and record what we've done on here. I am hoping to do about two verses a week. Feel free to share any ideas you have for any verses or activites, songs, etc. I think it should be fun and in the end, we will have learned 80 verses as a family if all goes according to plan!
I was so excited about the experience and didn't really know what to expect even though it was my third birth. I had tried to go natural with my first son, but was convinced by the nurses to have pitocin and an epidural after a few hours at the hospital. With the second, I was induced and got an epidural first thing in the morning without ever questioning it. This time, I wanted things to go differently!

I went to see my midwife the day before my due date (Oct. 27) and knew the baby would be coming soon. By the next week, the baby had still not arrived, but I was okay with waiting. I saw my midwife twice that week and at the second appointment, she gave me some herbs to take to start the process. She said it could start up with a few dosages or it might take the whole bottle. A few days later, I finished the bottle.

I started having contractions on Saturday and began timing them around 3:30 in the afternoon. They were manageable, but they were noticeable. They didn't really increase in strength very much and didn't get closer together. My dad decided to take our boys over to my brother's house in case the baby came that night. Around 10 that evening, my midwife contacted me to see how things were going and to tell me to go to bed. I decided that walking sounded like a better idea, so my husband and I headed out for a tour of the neighborhood. While walking, the contractions were really close, but not really strong. We headed home.

On the way back to the house, we saw a falling star, so that was really cool. We walked in the door and my mom met us asking if we had felt the earthquake. Earthquake? In Dallas!? We had missed it, but she said the dog was going crazy and the light fixtures were all swaying. Then my husband turned on the light to walk down the hall and we saw a possum laying in the hallway!! Our dog had gotten out the back door, killed a possum and brought it in for us! I was afraid it was "playing possum" and would jump up when my husband went to scoop it up with a shovel. That, however, was not the case! After all the excitement, we decided to head to bed.

My contractions lasted all night long and I kept waking up to time them on my phone. I got up around 6 because I was starving and my mom met me in the kitchen. She hadn't slept at all! This was on a Sunday morning and I knew the baby was going to be coming that day!

We started getting things ready. We put the shower curtain liner under the bed sheet in case I delivered in the bed. We got all of the necessary towels and other items out and ready. My midwife called in the morning to check on me, but there was really no reason for her to head out yet.

I took a shower and got dressed. When I would have a contraction, I would bend over and hold on to the couch, sink or whatever it was and sway back and forth. I tried to control my breathing and remembered that saying "ah" or "oh" helped. I did this for pretty much every contraction. Laying in the bed hurt really bad, so resting was out of the question.

My contractions took a turn around noon. They were really strong and about 3-5 minutes apart. My midwife said she would come over around 1:00 to check on me, so I knew I could make it that long. She called a little after 1:00 to see how I was doing and let us know that she was going to see another client on her way over to our house. She heard me having a contraction in the background and decided that she had better come see me first! She arrived at our house around 1:20.

When she got there, she said I could get in the bath and to run the water really warm. It felt really good after I got it cooled down a little bit! I relaxed pretty much immediately and my contractions were a little more manageable and I had a little bit of a break. She checked and I was dilated to 7 cm!! This was wonderful news!!

Ben had decorated the bathroom with candles and even a tree in the corner. The tree actually became something I focused on between contractions instead of looking around and seeing everyone watching me! It really did look nice! My mom, Ben, my midwife and her assistant were there.

My midwife suggested a few positions, but most of the time I felt best just laying back and holding on to the side. Sometimes I sat up straight when I had contractions and sometimes I just laid back. I tried to breathe through them. Sometimes they were so hard that I was yelling somewhat and breathing fast. She always would remind me how to breathe deep from my belly and I would regain my control.

She said I could push whenever I wanted and see if it felt better. Honestly, I wasn't sure if it felt better or not, so I would try every once in awhile. This was definitely different than being told to push and counting to 10 in the hospital. I could push as much and as long as I wanted during each contraction.

I remember saying at one point that I thought my belly button was going to explode. It was poking up a good inch from my belly! I also yelled that it hurt so bad. At one point, they said they could see the baby's head and that was really motivating. I was ready to have this baby out.

My back started hurting really badly and this was the end because I kept saying I couldn't do any more. I knew I had no other choice, but I wanted them to know that I was done and I wasn't playing!!

A few more pushes and suddenly the pain was gone at 4:07 pm. There was a baby laying on my chest. Ben told me I had a girl! Then he told me to tell everyone her name which is Elizabeth Dawn. My mom was so excited and started crying (the baby was named after her and my dad). I remember noticing that she was so clean but a little blue. After just a few seconds, she started crying a little bit. They wrapped us in towels and got us to the bed. A little while later we had an herbal bath. I was blessed. She was perfect and the birth had gone perfectly!

The birth happened 2 1/2 weeks ago. My recovery has gone really quickly. I did receive a few stitches, but even those seem to have healed quickly this time. My arms were sore from holding the tub. I pretty much was feeling great within a few days of the birth and back to normal within a week.

Elizabeth has also done really well. She was very alert after the birth and we enjoyed hanging out on our bed and spending some time with her. She has taken up breastfeeding very well and has gained weight. She is precious and the perfect addition to our family.

I love that I had her at home and had such a supportive group around me. This was a great experience, although it was a lot of work and quite painful (but only really painful for about 4 hours).

I read a lot of books, blogs and websites about birthing before going through this experience. They each had different information that I took from them to use during the birth. I am so thankful for the birth in the comfort of my home surrounded by people who understand and support my decision.
When she first did that, I thought she was crazy!! Now that I'm planning a home birth, I have been doing a lot of research about birthing at home. When I mention it to my friends, family or strangers, I often get a lot of funny looks and questions.

Here are a few of them:

1. Are you going to give birth in your bed?
I will give birth wherever is comfortable, but I haven't ruled out giving birth in or next to the bed.
2. Are you going to labor or birth in your tub?
Again, I'm not sure where I'll end up giving birth, but I do plan to use the bathtub at some point. We have a large claw-foot tub in the middle of our bathroom, so it should work out well.
3. Who is going to clean up?
My midwife and her assistant stay around for a few hours afterward to clean up, keep an eye on the baby and me and take care of any final things they need to do.
4. How did you pick your midwife?
I did a ton of research, but starting at 12 weeks pregnant looking for a midwife, I kind of wanted to get it done. I e-mailed a few CPMs, but we decided to go with a CNM because of the nursing background. I interviewed a birthing center in the area, but we thought that felt more like just going to some hotel to deliver--plus they kick you and the baby out a few hours after birth. So we met with the midwife we chose and really liked her. She had a lot of helpful insights and treated us well.
5. Are you going to have any pain medication?
No, I will be using relaxation methods, water, etc. to help deal with my pain. Plus I plan to focus on Scripture and pray a lot!! Doing a home birth pretty much ensures that you're going to go natural.
6. What happens if there is an emergency?
My midwife brings along a lot of supplies in case there is a minor problem. If there is something major, we can transport to one of the local (close) hospitals. We can either go in the car or call an ambulance if needed. We do not anticipate a problem, but if one arises, we will be prepared and follow the advice of our midwife.
7. When will your midwife come over?
She will be here while I am in active labor. She will come over when we call and tell her that my contractions are 5 minutes apart and lasting about 60 seconds for an hour. When I am "working with" them, breathing through them and focusing.
8. Will she have an assistant?
She will have a birthing assistant with her. Plus my mom and husband will be there!
9. Does she bring everything you need?
She gave me a list of supplies I need at home like towels, diapers, a birthing kit that I ordered online, a heating pad, thermometer, etc. She brings the other necessary supplies including oxygen, IVs and other supplies that she will need (whatever those might be)! Pretty much anything that is available at the birthing center she will bring with her. These are also items that are available at the hospital.
10. What made you decide to do this?
My other blog post here explains pretty well.
11. Were your other babies born naturally?
My other two were born in a hospital with epidurals. This will be my first unmedicated birth!
12. What is going to happen with your 2 other children while you give birth?
Someone will take care of them if it is during the day. If it is night, they will be sleeping. They will not be participating in the birth!
13. Are you crazy?
Nope. I just want to protect my baby and myself as much as possible now that I have read a lot more about birth and what I want it to be like that I don't think I can achieve in a hospital setting.

It didn't take that long to plan and I'm sad I didn't start them earlier! Better late than never. Here is what we did this week:

On Monday, we talked about God is Good. This was before I came up with a lesson plan. So the boys used their stampers and stickers to decorate a paper that said, "God is Good" with a smiley face.
Then I found a lesson plan template for the next lesson. On Wednesday, we talked about "God Made Everything" from Genesis 1:1. We watched a DVD that went along with our Bible that talked about creation and had little song called "God Made Everything." Then we talked about how God made colors and read a book called God Must Really Love Colors. That evening, we went on a walk and took a paper sack to collect things that God made. They had so much fun doing this--sticks, rocks, flowers, leaves, etc. When we got home, my husband drew (I have no artistic abilities) an acorn on the paper (because I had seen it elsewhere, but any shape would work or no shape at all) and the boys glued their items to the paper. At the top I wrote "God Made Everything Gen. 1:1." It is now hanging on #1's door. It was a fun activity and they seemed to really love it!

I had three lessons planned for this week, but we didn't get to the third. Guess it will carry over to next week!

Here is the lesson plan that I used (designed for toddlers):

Story/Verse, Song/Rhyme/DVD, Learning Activity, Craft, P.E., Special Activity

We didn't do all of the activities with each lesson, but that will be the future goal in a relaxed setting. If you're interested in specifics about any of the books, DVDs, etc., please leave me a comment and I'll get back to you. We did use the Read 'n' See DVD Bible.Kamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08922230473802399178noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881726697848288028.post-79288584310980975942011-10-21T22:06:00.005-05:002011-10-21T22:16:09.763-05:00Finished ProjectsThis is my 100th post! It has been a little while since I've posted anything on this blog, but I've been working...on a lot of things! 39 weeks pregnant this week, I finished up a few projects that needed to be done.

I was able to make a nursing cover for my sister-in-law who is due at the start of November and one for myself. I make them bigger than most--27"x37"! I also like to make them reversible.
I also was able to finish the quilt I made for my nephew and I like it a lot. I started it long ago and it wasn't hard to do, I just kept putting it off for no reason. I love the way it turned out. It will be perfect in his big boy bed soon! The backing is from IKEA and I got another one to make his older brother a matching quilt (at least on the back).

Kamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08922230473802399178noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881726697848288028.post-76466817552053566102011-07-25T14:27:00.004-05:002011-10-23T15:40:21.113-05:00M's QuiltI got to make a quilt for a brand new baby boy recently! He is the son of a very dear friend of mine. They prayed for a long time to have another child and God blessed this with a precious baby boy. I was excited to mail this quilt to them.
I made it using green and blue minky fabrics as well as matching flannels. Minky is not the easiest fabric to sew!!! I did a patchwork design and sewed it with straight lines that intersected in each patch. It ended up measuring 30" x 33". I think it will make him a nice lovie in the future!

Kamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08922230473802399178noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7881726697848288028.post-84246736395572701412011-07-25T14:08:00.006-05:002011-07-25T15:51:00.060-05:00Baby GiftsI have 2 friends who gave birth recently and I was so excited to get some gifts in the mail to them. One had a boy and one had a girl.

First I whipped out my embroidery machine to make a few gifts for the new babies and one special big sister! The big sister gift is a cute little apron I found and thought it would be perfect for a little crafty girl.
I saw this super cute idea as a blanket and then as washcloths. I tried the washcloth idea, but the ones I bought were too fat on the sides, so I decided to try onesies. I think it ended up looking so cute! Wrapped in cellophane and tied with a ribbon. This was the gift for the new sweet little boy that I'll hopefully get to meet soon! I made him a little tiny cuddly quilt that I hope he loves in the future (more on the quilt in another post)! I also included a burp cloth which I love made out of super soft flannel. These are also great for wiping noses when they get a little older!
Then for the little girl gift, I included a few girly necessities that I hope will come in handy and be loved as well! I hope to see a picture of her in her dress!

Kamahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08922230473802399178noreply@blogger.com0
